Sprinter Hima Das brought glory to our Nation last week by winning Gold. She made a history by becoming the first Indian woman athlete to win gold at International level in women’s 400m final race in the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Finland.
Despite, bringing fame and glory to India, people are bothered about her caste. Yes, you are reading it right. After her name, ‘Hima Das Caste’ is the most searched thing about her on Google.
To this, some people are severely backlashing those with a narrow mindset. Have a look at Twitter reaction:
India is a sad sad country. A young athlete #HimaDas wins India's first gold medal at the World Junior Athletics Championships and what do her countrymen search for in Google. Her caste! Fucking Pathetic! #HimaDasGoldenGirl

Since indians are busy searching for the caste details of famous indian personalities, soon google will open a seperate browser for caste search, only for indians, that too with Aadhaar number.#casteseekingindians #GoogleAssistant#HimaDas pic.twitter.com/BYjvxh4Owa

Well, that’s actually a sad state of our nation.
People were immensely proud of her victory. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter, “India is delighted and proud of athlete Hima Das, who won a historic Gold in the 400m of World U20 Championships. Congratulations to her! This accomplishment will certainly inspire young athletes in the coming years.”

We hope that people move over things like caste, color, and religion and start seeing themselves as one nation!
