A video of Sunil Chettri, India’s National Football Team Captain is going viral on the Internet today for all the right reasons. Sunil is the world’s third highest active international goal scorer, after Messi and Ronaldo. Yesterday, he made an appeal to all the football fans to come and support the Indian National Football team at the stadiums at every possible opportunity.

The Football is now performing well and has improved its ranking in the current Fifa chart to 97. The team will face Kenya on June 4 and this match will also be Sunil’s 100th International match.

In an emotional video, he appealed all the football fans to turn up for the upcoming matches. He agreed that the level is not same as European clubs, but he assured that the team will try their best to make it worth the time of the fans.

He said, “To all of you who are fans of big European clubs and support European clubs with so much passion and sometimes you guys think that the level is not the same, so why do you waste your time? Agreed, the level is not the same, not even close but with our desire and determination, we will try our best to make your time worth. ”

He further added, “To all of you, who have lost hope or don’t have any hope in Indian football, we request you to come and watch us in the stadium,” the skipper added. “I mean it’s not fun to criticise and abuse on the internet. Come to the stadium, do it on our face, scream at us, shout at us, abuse us, who knows one day we might change you guys, you might start cheering for us. You guys have no idea how important you guys are and how important your support is.”

In the concluding statement, he said, “I request you all to please come …talk about the game, go back home, have discussions, make banners. Please get involved, this is an important time and juncture in Indian football and football in India needs you guys.”

Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli too came out in support of Sunil Chhetri. His video is being shared on social media.

In our country, Cricket has been hyped and given priority over other sports like Hockey and Football which are often ignored. This video just shows the sad state of affairs.
